In a truly inspiring act of equity and inclusion, classmates of Tim Burr ‘18 finally accepted him into their social circle after he passed his road test. He is now able to stay on campus for the munches that start a half hour before sign-in and actually “socialize” with people. Along with that, he is officially able to enjoy being constantly asked to drive people to Chipotle Mexican Grill!
“I’m so glad that all these people reached out to me after getting my license,” said Burr in an interview with The Gorilla (which took place at Dunkin Donuts thanks to Burr driving The Gorilla Staff down the block). “There are so many people I didn’t even realize were my friends. Even people I’ve never talked to before! Now I know that the true meaning of friendship is taking people to restaurants in their free periods and waiting in my car that has no heater while they eat their food in the warm restaurant.”
“Tom, I mean Tim sure is fun to be around!” said Tim’s new best friend Bill Board ‘18, “Ever since I started hanging with him last week, he’s driven me to UBurger five times.”
Even Head of School John Palfrey reports being “truly amazed and inspired” at the great steps Tim’s classmates have taken to make him feel included. “It’s great that Andover’s becoming a place where any day student with a license and parents who’ll lend them a car for a whole day can feel included,” he said in a recent interview with The Gorilla, “This is a great example of cooperation and open-mindedness that I hope the Andover community can learn from.” Palfrey then had to leave the interview abruptly when he saw Burr walking down the path. Palfrey was seen chasing Burr down and shouting “Yo Jim can you drive me to Whole Foods?”
Burr’s friends were last seen sprinting from his car after he was ticketed by PAPS. At press time, there was no evidence of further contact between Burr and his friends.
